How Eagardale Kennels came to be
Shortly after Scarlet Moore had inherited the large area of land which became Eagardale Horse Ranch, she saw an ad in the paper for a young pair of beautiful Border Collies, one male and one female. The male was a gorgeous pure white with patches of Black and Grey around his eyes and tail and the female was beautiful Red Merle. Scarlet fell in love and instantly adopted them. She named them Lose Yourself (Male, Bandit for short) and When Im Gone (Female, Lainie for short). Scarlet already owned a Black and White Border Collie named 'Till I Colapse (Female, Tilly for short) when she bought home the two youngsters and immediately the three were best friends, although since Bandit wasn't neutered, he had to be separated from the girls. Little did Scarlet know that Lainie was actually already carrying a litter of puppies to Bandit and was incredibly surprised when she took all the dogs for a check up after getting the new guys to find that their were going to be puppies!
With Lainie getting bigger and bigger by the day, and with Eagardale Horse Ranch busy getting set up, Scarlet was overwhelmed with things to do. When suddenly she stumbled on a pair of Border Collie pups left at her front gate she had almost reached her limit. She took the pups to the vet and rescue centre to try and find their owner, but after two weeks with no one coming forward Scarlet couldn't bear to see them put down, so despite already being overwhelmed with jobs and animals, she took in the two pups. She named them Blue Jay (Female, Jay for short) and Midnight Eclipse (Male, Eclipse for short). Scarlet brought them into her house and started hand raising them, although she found that she wasnt having enough time to care for the puppies as well as running the ranch. So she had to come up with a plan.
It had been over a week since Scarlet had taken in the pups when her best friend Lily Collins from school got in touch with her. One thing lead to another and Scarlet came up with the idea to open a kennel to house her Border Collies. She purchased a large plot of land and built Eagardale Kennels. Lily Collins became the manager who lived onsite and cared for all the dogs. With Lainie pregnant, and all the dogs being purebred Border Collies, Scarlet and Lily came up with the idea for Eagardale Kennels to become a professional Border Collie breeding and showing kennels and that brought us to where we are today, building up Eagardale Kennels.

Eagardale Kennels Now
At Eagardale Kennels we pride our self in breeding 100% purebred Border Collies. We are carefully when choosing which of our dogs we wish to breed and strive to produce the best canines in conformation, personality, behavior, showing and working as well as colour. We make it our goal to produce dogs which are fit for both showing and working.
We believe in bringing out our dogs pack and family instincts which is why we house them in large female and male compounds with no restrictions (apart from male and female mixing). They can eat, sleep, play or relax whenever they wish. They can be inside or outside whenever they want and they have maximum social interaction with both other dogs and humans.
At Eagardale Kennels we use real coat genetics. This means all puppies bred at our kennel will be genetically colour correct and will have real genetic information posted on their profile page (Unless we haven't had time to work this out and write it). This also means we will NOT buy dogs which are not genetically colour correct.
When breeding our dogs, our females will never be bred more than once a year (One real month). Our males are also never bred more than three times a year. We find that exceeding these limits puts too much stress on our dogs, and we have enough dogs that we don't need to not push these limits. We also don't breed dogs under the age of two years. Once our dogs hit eight years of age we no longer use them for breeding. We then focus them on showing and working.
We hope you like our Kennel and please feel free to leave a comment on the home page or email us if you have any questions.
